BCM215 – Concept Art!

Hi! I never use my blog and the formatting suuuucks and is full of type crimes but I’m electing to ignore that right now in favour of making blog posts, which I need to do for this class hell yeah.

I’ve been struggling with getting my act together on what our public-facing elements should be, so this is quite late in the DA, but here’s my art I’ve done so far for my game concept BILBY (working title).

The idea is making a puzzle-platformer that uses HSC physics concepts to act as a teaching tool but also a fun game to play. The character being designed as the bulk of my project is the player character, but they will also have a moth companion that speaks/guides the player through the world. My goal past the limits of this DA is to actually make this game a reality, though that is. Lofty. I’ll get there eventually.

I’m working currently on deciding on colourways for the outfit and whether I want extra details or not, and I may do an animation test if I can find the time. Animation is really important though, as it’s vital to the actual playing of the game and is a major point to consider in character design. Details that can “float” and move around in hand-drawn animation make the process a lot longer and more difficult, for example.

Let me know what you think so far!
